Highly Commended Film at NOISE FLicks 2013
Recently screened at NOISE Flicks 2013 Palmerstown, Pobal Scoil Iosolde Transition year’s adaptation of Irish Legend aptly named Children of Larry Lir was very much a surprise to everyone. This comedy depicts what happens when a man finds out just who he ends up married to. Directed by Raymond Beggan and Alan Holland this short film takes place in the concrete jungle where the seemingly ordinary family’s lives are turned upside down by their evil stepmothers plan.
Based on the legend of the Children of Lir - one of the best known tales of Ireland. This story tells of Lir and his wife Aobh and their four children. Lir's first wife dies/disappears and he remarries Aoife. At first Aoife loved them all dearly but after a time she grows jealous of their father's affection for the children and hatches an evil plot.
The problems the children face will have you in stitches. See what mad mommy will do to have daddy all to herself. Additionally, you won’t be able to help getting so into the movie, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen in the end. .
This movie is crammed with remarkable actors who truly make the film. First, Lorcan Glennon (Larry Lir) gives a legendary performance in this film and is absolutely comical. Andrea Dempsey (Aoife) as the female lead is hilarious. Finally, the twins Kate Kirby and Aaron Agar were also good for a lot of laughs throughout the film, the casting for this movie is truly perfect, and the actors do not disappoint.
