NOISEflicks Film Festival 2017.

The annual NOISEflicks Film Festival is taking place in the IMC Cinema, Tallaght on Friday 27th October. The screening showcases the best films made by young filmmakers aged 14-18 from Leinster. We had over 100 entries this year, and with only enough time to screen 15 films our judges had some really difficult decisions to make. Our fantastic 15 films screening are:

1. Theres something rotten in the state of jobstown Youth Horizons Drama Group The Film is based on the story of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Hamo is in despair. His father a notorious drug dealer, has just died and the ghost of his father visits him. His father’s ghost informs Hamo him that Bosco, his uncle has murdered him in order to take over his empire. Thus ensues the dilemma. Should Hamo take revenge, and more importantly how?

2. Equality in our time Reel youth bru youth service A short documentary considering the way opportunities and rights for young people have changed over the last century, and what life is like in 2016

3. GO Louis Maxwell Go follows a young man on a journey that will save his life.

4.Ashes to Ashes AIBίTIR PICTURES Saying goodbye to the wrong friend can be a disastrous

5. Kieran Denis Jarusch "Kieran" is a short and intense dive into the psyche of a young man, perplexed and held back by his own complex mind, in a take on overtly cerebral art house cinema.

6. Strange Perspectives A young man discreetly contemplates every day occurrences

7. Blankness Cliona Ball They were best friends until one was in a coma

7. Witness - Feel the Fire by Pluto Alexandra College, Dir Berenice Berlan The task is to get out of a building. Will we find out how?

8. The Life of Young Pablo Hartstown Community School A boy being bullied in school realises that the key to being cool and having friends is taking on the role of Pablo Escobar. However, a rival gang finds Pablo's sugar smuggling problematic.

9. Bad Buzz Tallaght Young Filmmakers Why do some young people take drugs?

10. Make me a Robot. Róisín Conlon Would this transformation leave her free from the pain or create even more?

11. Sticks and Stones Jack Doyle “A small argument in reality quickly turns into a fantastical war”

12. My Great Aunt Chrissie Alana Daly Mulligan (Phantasmagoria Productions) with Sam Browne (Sam Media) An ode to the Irish women who suffered at the hands of the Catholic Church and Irish State who continue to treat Irish women as second-class citizens.

13. Soulmates St. ColmCilles What does it mean to find your soulmate? A young girl's world is changed more than she could have imagined when a chance encounter with the right person opens her eyes to a world she never knew existed.

14. Hidden Potential Eamonn MacMahon A young school child is bullied throughout school. Until he steps up and does something remarkable.

 

There will be awards given in the following categories Best Group Film, Best Individual Film, Writing, Directing, Documentary, Editing, Acting, Cinematography, Sound, Audience Choice.

On Saturday 28th October there will be two workshops as part of the festival.

Workshop 1:

Developing script ideas with Cecilia McAllister. 2.30pm - 5.30pm Come to this workshop prepared to develop on a character led script that tells a visual story. It doesn’t matter whether you have never written a script before or whether you’ve written one hundred the only thing you need to bring is your imagination and the willingness to share your stories!

WORKSHOP 2.

Acting for Camera with Seana Kerslake 11am - 1pm Develop your acting for camera skills and discover what makes a compelling performance in this two hour workshop with Seana Kerslake (A date for Mad Mary, Can’t Cope Won’t Cope) Participants should have a short scene prepared in advance of attending this workshop.
