Deadline for Suburban Sounds Applications
Suburban Sounds is a music programme for young people that is run in partnership between Alternative Entertainments and CONTACT Studio. Group sessions take place every Wednesday evening in RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre.
The group works with experienced musicians Martin Moran, Elton Mullally and Gerry Horan who help them to develop their songs, their musicianship and their creativity. They will also work with guest mentors - highly regarded musicians who give them some insight into what life is like for a professional musician, how they create their work and how they make a living! Past guests have included Niamh Farrell and Podge McNamee (Ham Sandwich); Graham Hopkins (Glen Hansard, The Frames, Therapy?); Dave Hingerty (Kila, The Frames); Brendan Fennessey (O Emperor); Cat Dowling; Carol Keogh and Keeley Moss.
The group ends with a live performance showcase of the work they have created in one of Ireland's best loved venues The Grand Social in Dublin's city centre. They will also be lucky enough to record a selection of the songs they have written in the legendary Windmill Lane recording studios in Ringsend.
Suburban Sounds is supported by South Dublin County Arts Office and Music Generation South Dublin.
Each participant will finish the series having created, recorded and performed new work. They will also be offered the opportunity to have this work featured and promoted here on Noise. Application forms are available here, or you can pick up a hard copy at reception in RUA RED.
